About Us
The Mid-Peninsula Widows and Widowers Association (MPWWA) began as a self-help support group in June 1976. Initially comprising a small group of ten people brought together by Dr. Dan Dugan, Human Support Coordinator, and Ms. Helen Gienger Kuckens, who organized grief workshops, our association rapidly grew. Under the leadership of Marilyn Short, our first President, MPWWA became a chartered non-profit organization in February 1977, officially registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit Corporation in 1986. As our membership continued to expand, we relocated to the Social Hall at Los Altos Lutheran Church, where we still hold our General Meetings. Currently, our membership is between 120-150 individuals.
Engaging in emergency preparedness activities brings us together, encouraging social connections.
